Cape Meares

Tillamook, Oregon

From the Cape Meares Lighthouse, a dramatically beautiful landscape unfolds along the Oregon coast. The profile wildlife that inhabits Cape Meares including puffins, seals and cormorants can be seen along the shorts. Dark, handsome forests fringe the coast. The restored and automated lighthouse, mistaken built in this location, houses a prismatic Fresnel lens whose light shines more than 20 miles across the sea.

Admiralty Head

Whidbey Island, WA

Admiralty Head was the first lighthouse to guide ships into Puget Sound through Admiralty Inlet. The tower is adjoined to a masonry complex which once served as Army quarters during World War II. With the lighthouse restored and lantern reconstructed, Admiralty Head is now part of Fort Casey State Park.

Point Reyes Lighthouse

Lovely hillsides resembling the Scottish heaths give way to Point Reyes National Seashore. Here, perched high atop the cliffs, the Point Reyes Lighthouse is a spectacular vantage point for whale watching, especially from December to March, the migration season for gray whales. Thought they can be observed from below, the view of the whales from the lighthouse is worth the climb to the top.
